Upload patents to your project results

You can use the Uploaded option to manually add patents to a project. The patents you upload are saved in that project's Uploaded list.

When you select the Uploaded list, your project will only show results from this list. You can use Amplified to search and sort these patents. Any results that you mark as Relevant, Flagged, or Hidden in the Uploaded list will also have that mark in the Search results list. This helps to avoid reviewing the same results twice and allows you to use Relevant results found in one list to re-sort another.

If any uploaded patents are in your Search results, you'll see an icon letting you know. This makes it easy to quickly identify additional search results from AI that were not included in your uploaded list.

Example use cases

Q: I have a list of patents that have already been reviewed. I want to exclude these so I only see new results in Amplified.

A: Upload the list of reviewed patents to your project as Hidden. When you search those will not be displayed, so you'll only see new results.

Q: I did a search in STN and have a list of 700 hits and I want to review these in Amplified.

A: Upload the list of patent numbers to your project as Unreviewed then open your Uploaded list in the project. You'll now be able to sort the list using AI, highlight with keywords, and search using any of Amplified's filters. When you go back to Amplified's Search results list you'll see an Uploaded icon next to any results that are also in your Uploaded list. In addition, you can use the results you marked as Relevant to find more like them that may have been missed in the original STN search.

Uploading patents by number

You can upload a list of patent numbers as a CSV file or plain text.

To upload a file instead, click on "Prefer to upload a file?" then drag and drop or click on Choose file to select one. Make sure that your file is a single-column and contains  patent numbers only.

Confirm patent number matches

After clicking Continue you'll be prompted to confirm matches and review any problems. Patent number formats can vary across systems so when there is not an exact match, you'll be asked to confirm which patent you want to use like in the example below:

You don't need to specify kind codes but doing so will make the process smoother. Here are some examples of how different number inputs are handled:

OK?   Input example Outcome
OK   US8348342B2 Returns exact match with no validation needed
OK   US8348342 May require validation if multiple kind codes exist
OK   US834834 Returns multiple results and asks for validation
×   US834 Too many possible matches

There are many patent number formats and Amplified supports many of them but we're always working on adding more. We try to handle this for you, but in some cases you may need to adjust the format yourself. If you need help with number formatting for uploads, we're happy to help.
