Amplified makes it easy to assign patents to your teammates for structured review. Assignments help organize who reviews what, track progress, and maintain consistent criteria for decision-making.

How to Assign Patents

  1. Select the patents you want to assign by checking the boxes next to their titles in the results list.

  2. Click the Assignments icon (clipboard symbol) at the top of the results list.

In the Assign patents for review modal:

    • Choose to create a new assignment or add to an existing one.
    • Enter an assignment name.
    • Add review instructions (these will be shown to reviewers in their review panel).
    • Select the reviewers you want to assign.
    • Choose whether to send notifications immediately or wait until you've finished adding patents.

📝 Naming an assignment makes it easy to add additional patents to it later without needing to re-add reviewers or instructions.

Assignment Shortcuts

Instead of selecting patents manually, you can use built-in shortcuts:

  • Assign selected patents — assigns only the patents you’ve checked.
  • Assign all relevant patents — assigns all patents marked as relevant.
  • Assign all flagged patents — assigns all patents you’ve flagged.

These shortcuts speed up batch assignments for large projects.

How Reviewers See the Assignment

Once an assignment is created:

  • Reviewers receive an email notification with a link to start their review.
  • Patents are reviewed using the same interface and workflow as monitor reviews.
  • Amplified tracks reviewer progress so you can see what’s been completed at a glance.

Tracking and Managing Assignments

  • You can monitor which patents have been reviewed and which are still pending.
  • Each assigned patent will display its review status in the results list.
  • You can add more patents to an existing assignment at any time.

đź’ˇ Pro Tip: Build a Strategic Data Asset with Tags

Set up a consistent tagging structure in your Amplified account before starting assignments.

When you include tags in the review criteria, reviewers will classify patents consistently as they work. Over time, this builds a structured, searchable data asset of your organization’s IP knowledge:

  • Tags make it easy to analyze trends across projects.
  • You can filter and group patents by technology, business unit, and more.
  • High quality tag data can be used to support future searches and train custom classifiers for faster and more accurate insights.

📝 Example: Create tags for product lines, technology areas, or competitive focus. Then use them in assignments so reviewers apply them systematically.
